K-WINGS INK ROOKIE DEFENSEMAN NOAH ELLIS TO 2026-27 ROSTER
Kalamazoo adds rookie defenseman Noah Ellis to the defensive corps out of Sacred Heart University.
KALAMAZOO, MI – The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced Thursday that rookie defenseman Noah Ellis has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2026-27 season.
Ellis, 24, is a 6-foot 3-inch, 201-pound, Urbandale, IA native who’s set to skate in his first professional season. The defenseman played four collegiate seasons (NCAA) between UMass (2022-23), University of Nebraska-Omaha (2023-25) and Sacred Heart University (2025-26). Last season, the right-shot notched an NCAA career-high in goals (9), assists (10) and points scored (19) for the Pioneers.
“I’m thrilled to join the Wings family,” Ellis said. “I played a year of junior hockey on the western side of Michigan, and it is full of great people & passionate hockey fans. I’m super excited to get to Kalamazoo to meet the coaches, players and the fans.”
Before college, Ellis played parts of four seasons in the USHL for Des Moines (2018-21) and Muskegon (2021-22), totaling 61 points (18g, 43a) in 155 games played. Ellis was also selected in Round 6 (No. 184) of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Kalamazoo will continue releasing player signings until the start of training camp this October. Single-Game tickets and the team’s promotional schedule are slated to release in early September, with the Home Opener scheduled for October 30 at 7 p.m. ET versus the Toledo Walleye.
