K-WINGS RE-SIGN FORWARDS RAYMOND BRICE & MAX HUMITZ
Kalamazoo adds two Michigan natives as core forwards prior to 2022-23 season.
KALAMAZOO, MI – The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Wednesday the re-signing of forwards Raymond Brice and Max Humitz.
Brice, 26, enters his second professional season, after scoring 11 goals with seven assists and 10 penalty minutes in 66 games for the K-Wings last season.
“Ray provided some nice secondary scoring for us last season,” said Joel Martin, Kalamazoo Wings director of hockey operations and head coach. “He’s a responsible two-way forward and a valuable penalty killer.”
The 6-foot, 194-pound, Houghton MI native is a former three-year starter & team captain for Michigan Tech University (95 GP, 13G, 13A, 26 PIM). Brice also saw eight games of AHL action with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2020-21 (3G, 2A, 2 PIM).
“I’m most excited about satisfying that hunger that I know the core of our team has from how last season ended and building upon that,” Brice said. “We have the most passionate fan base in the ECHL, and I can’t wait to get back to Wings Event Center.”
Humitz, 27, also enters his second professional season, after playing 45 games for the K-Wings last season, scoring 13 goals with 11 assists and 16 penalty minutes. The 5-foot 8-inch, Livonia, MI native was a top talent on the 2021-22 Kalamazoo team, which resulted in Humitz spending 11 games in the AHL (Grand Rapids).
“Max has had an excellent summer of off-ice training to prepare for the season,” Martin said. “He is a shifty forward with elite scoring ability.”
Humitz is another former captain of a premiere Michigan collegiate hockey program, playing four years for Lake Superior State. For the Lakers, Humitz played 149 games and scored 64 goals with 47 assists and 111 penalty minutes.
“It’s awesome to be coming back to Wings Event Center and putting on a K-Wings jersey again,” Humitz said. “October can’t come fast enough, and we’re ready to get the arena rocking again on opening night.”
Stay tuned to future releases and social media announcements, as the K-Wings continue filling their roster up until the start of Training Camp on Oct. 7.
