KALAMAZOO, MI— The Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned defenseman Anton Cederholm from the Utica Comets to the Kalamazoo Wings, the team announced Wednesday.
Cederholm, 22, spent the entire 2016-17 season overseas with Rogle (Swedish Elite League) and AIK (Allsvenskan), where he combined for two goals, five assists, and 53 penalty minutes in 41 games.
The third year pro’s name will ring a bell among Wings fans, as he played in 69 games with Kalamazoo on re-assignment during the 2015-16 season and chipped in 17 points (three goals, 14 assists). He earned the team’s Most Improved Player Award as well as the team’s “Plus” Performer of the Year Award after registering an impressive +18 rating during the ’15-’16 campaign.
A native of Helsingborg, Sweden, Cederholm has represented his country on several different occasions, including the 2011-12 U17 World Hockey Challenge.
Before turning pro, Cederholm spent two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winterhawks, where he appeared in 139 games and tallied 35 career points.
He was drafted in round five (pick 145) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
