- The Kalamazoo Wings will take on the Norfolk Admirals 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 for Rock and Roll Night, presented by Adams Outdoor. Fans will be treated to rock tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s throughout the game and a special exhibit of rock legend Janis Joplin’s psychedelic classic Porsche on display in the main lobby.
The Janis Joplin 1965 Porsche 356 Cabriolet is a psychedelic visual tour-de-force filled with symbolism unique to Joplin herself. According to an article in the October 2005 issue of the 356 Registry written by Jerry McDermott and Gordon Maltby, the right rear is the sun represented Joplin’s Capricorn sign. The two heads centrally located on the engine cover represented “everyman.” The right door, thought by many to be Sausalito, is just a typical valley town while the left side of the care presented the band. The dramatic hood display shows the Eye of God along with flowers and butterflies.
Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to see the Porsche up close during the game and take pictures with the car to be submitted via Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #kwingsphoto for a chance to win two passes to the Gilmore Car Museum. After the game, the Porsche will be moving to the Gilmore Car Museum in April for a limited time display.
Tickets starting as low as $10 for adults and $9 for kids. For tickets to the game visit kwings.com
